In plants where seed dormancy is an issue, Cold Stratification is a means of preparing seeds for germination. This involves keeping the seeds for up to a couple of months in a cool, moist environment. Very often the refrigerator is sufficient. In some cases, it may be desirable to soak the seeds in cold water prior to refrigeration.
