Taking cuttings from a tree or bush is a fairly rapid form of propogation. To take a cutting, a branch must bee removed from the parent, and placed under specific conditions to form its own roots. Many people use rooting hormone powder or gell to ensure root production, while others will just feed the cutting with a good fertilizer. If the cutting does not establish a root system fast enough, it is likely to wilt and die. Some plants root readily from cuttings, others don't.
